The eighteenth IEEE symposium on reliable distributed systems will be held on the 19 to 22 October 1999 in Lausanne, Switzerland.

The purpose of this symposium is to bring together researchers, designers, and implementers of distributed systems and people in industry, government, and academia who design, develop, experiment, and require reliable, robust, and dependable distributed systems.

The preliminary program includes an invited talk by Robert Cooper of Lucent Technologies on 'Reliability of Future Telephone Networks', and sessions devoted to mobile computing, distributed algorithms, formal methods, replication techniques, scalability, failure analysis, system support, logging and checkpointing, CORBA, and work in progress.
