Workshop on “Promotion of Biogas Upgradation and Bottling in India & EU”

Promotion of Biogas Upgradation and Bottling in India & EU

22 August 2013 - 23 August 2013
India
Biogas is emerging as an important renewable energy source for cooking, heating, power generation and as transportation fuel. It is helpful in environmental friendly waste disposal and positively contributes in climate change mitigation. Biogas upgrading as transportation fuel is new development in India. In Europe, biogas upgrading is used mainly for large scale biogas plants. IIT Delhi has developed small scale water scrubbing based biogas upgrading and bottling technology for vehicular applications which can be used in rural areas. The technology has been demonstrated successfully at some cattle farms (Goshalas) and also a few pilot scale commercial plants have been installed in India. Development of small scale biogas upgradation is also part of the EU- FP7 consortium research project “Valorisation of Food Waste to Biogas” having 13 partners (12 from Europe and one from India). IIT Delhi is leader of biogas upgradation work package in this EU-FP7 project. To promote and widespread disseminate this technology; it is proposed to organize an International Dissemination Workshop on “Promotion of Biogas Upgradation and Bottling in India & EU” on August 22-23, 2013 at IIT Delhi. The workshop would be useful to consultants, researchers, project developers, policy makers, entrepreneurs, financing institutions, NGOs etc.

The contents of the workshop will include expert lectures on biogas production, biogas upgradation & bottling technology, biogas entrepreneurship, policy issues etc and discuss in detail the promotion of biogas upgrading and bottling in India and EU. The second day of the workshop will provide an opportunity for demonstration of a working biogas upgrading and bottling plant in India.

Limited seats are available in the workshop on first come first serve basis.

Registration fee for Indian Participant is Rs 5000/- and for foreign participant is US$ 200 which should be sent along with the application. Workshop brochure is attached for more information.
