2013 European Conference on Social Collective Intelligence

Tackling societal challenges with Social Collective Intelligence and ICT!

3 October 2013 - 3 October 2013
Austria
The 2013 European Conference on ‘Tackling societal challenges with Social Collective Intelligence and ICT!’ is the final event of the Social-IST EU/FP7 project (www.social-ist.eu).

Organised by Sigma Orionis in collaboration with CREATE-NET and the University of Edinburgh, the conference aims to present the Social-IST main project outcomes (namely the White Paper on Research Challenges in Social Collective Intelligence and the Roadmap for FET Initiatives in Social Collective Intelligence) and to promote an open dialogue on how a new form of ICT can help us build a smarter society. The event will bring together more than 20 speakers, who will debate with the public scientific challenges brought forward by Social Collective Intelligence, its impact on various application domains and the community support needed to foster its development.

The White paper will include the identification and description of key research challenges that will be faced by researchers in designing and experimenting with Social Collective Intelligence Systems within the next decade. The Roadmap will include a number of recommendations for the Commission in terms of timing, focus of initiatives and potential instruments for bringing forward the topics identified in the White Paper in a coherent way, maximizing the impacts on science, society and economy.

The organisers are expecting at least 100 participants representing a targeted audience of scientists and researchers, representatives of the European Commission, industry players, policy makers and other relevant stakeholders involved in or truly interested in Social Collective Intelligence.Registrations are free of charge but seats are limited due to room capacity constraints.
