Biomass for energy and industry

The first world conference and exhibition on biomass for energy and industry will be held in Seville, Spain, from 5 to 9 June 2000. The event gathers for the first time the 11th European conference on biomass for energy and industry and the biomass conference of the Americas, with the hope that it will become the largest event in the worldwide biomass sector.

The conference will contribute to the elaboration of innovative global strategies, projects and efficient practice rules for energy and environment, by providing an information exchange and discussion forum for scientists, policy-makers and practitioners of biomass for energy and industry. It will highlight new innovative concepts and projects to increase social and political awareness for a change in worldwide energy resource consumption and will promote economically, socially and environmentally sustainable development for the next millennium. The technology exhibition will provide business opportunities in the emerging biomass sector.

The programme includes:

- Plenary lectures describing the state-of-the-art in biomass technology;
- Oral and poster presentations of specific research, development, demonstration and commercial projects;
- Exhibition of biomass products, utilisation and conversion technologies;
- Scientific tours and a social programme.

In addition there will be workshops on specific issues related to biomass, bioenergy schemes and technology deployment.

The conference organisers, Energia TA-Florence and WIP-Munich, in collaboration with CIEMAT-Madrid, have announced a final call for papers to be presented at the conference.
