Ireland is hosting the fifth national innovation conference on 21 October 1999 in Dublin.

The conference is aimed at key business leaders in all sectors of industry. It will focus on the new millennium and the challenges for management of technological and organisational change in Irish based enterprises.

The conference will also offer the opportunity to hear from speakers with an intimate knowledge of responding to technological and organisational change.

The internationally acclaimed author Charles Handy will speak about the implications for society and for individuals of the dramatic changes which technology and economics are bringing to the workplace and life in general. William Morris, Director of Laboratory operations at Nortel networks, will outline how Nortel networks currently manage organisational and technological innovation, including several of Charles Handys ideas in operation at its Belfast plant, as well as more generally throughout its world-wide operations. Peter Cassells, General Secretary of the Irish Congress of trade Unions, will focus on social partnership, with an emphasis on reaching agreed approaches to managing technological and organisational change in the workplace.

The conference is aimed at encouraging discussion between business and government on the approaches best suited to the Irish business environment, under the theme managing change in the new millennium.
