The Royal Society of Chemistry (UK) is organising a seminar on redox reactions with biological systems, in Preston, United Kingdom, on 13 January 2000. The meeting will address the subtle and specific reactions of micro-organisms. Speakers from industry and academia will explain and give examples of these redox reactions and how they are being exploited in environmental restoration and in the production of fine chemicals and pharmaceuticals. The aim of the meeting is to give chemists a greater insight into developments in the microbiological arena, and explain why the two disciplines need to work more closely together.
