The 17th World Conference on Science and Technology Parks, organised by IASP, the International Association of Science Parks, will take place in Edinburgh, United Kingdom, from 10 to 14 July 2000.

The conference will tackle a range of issues of importance to science parks, all of them centred round the fundamentals of innovation. Following keynote addresses on the globalisation of technology and the enterprise environment in Scotland, the conference will split into two broad parallel themes. The first will cover enterprise, looking at different practices and techniques which can assist in financing or organising high-tech companies, of the sort to be found in science parks. The second theme will look at the different mechanisms available for support at national and EU levels which apply to science parks and their partners.

The organisers are currently looking for papers which address the conference theme, 'Science parks - frontiers to the future', in particular in the areas of offshore engineering, biotechnology and opto-electronics. The deadline for submission of papers is 21 January 2000.
