'Connecting the Community' is the title and the theme of the TeleCities annual general meeting, to be held in London on 13 and 14 December 1999.

The purpose of this event is to raise awareness among towns and cities of how telematics technologies could benefit their environments.

TeleCities is a bottom-up initiative by a number of cities and regions, supported by the European Union's Telematics Applications research programme. Since 1993 it has been bringing together different areas of Europe sharing similar interests and goals for telematics applications in an urban context.

About 100 TeleCities members are expected at the event providing examples of good practice and sharing experiences. Members include local governments, research institutions, industry and network operators.
