TEDx Brussels - ‘The territory and the map’ will take place on 1 December 2014 from 9am to 7pm at BOZAR in Brussels, Belgium.

TEDx Brussels(opens in new window) is an annual event that lends a platform to exceptional speakers. For the first time this year, five researchers funded by the European Research Council (ERC)(opens in new window), will be speaking to present their research and showcase excellent science to the general public.

Under this year’s theme ‘The territory and the map’, the ERC speakers will decode the complex world we live in and its mysteries:

Christopher Pissarides(opens in new window), 2010 Nobel prize in Economics, will be speaking about unemployment in Europe;

Jonathan Coleman(opens in new window), Leading researcher in Material Science will be talking about 2-dimensional materials, including graphene and its applications;

Tiziana Rossetto(opens in new window), Earthquake and tsunami researcher will expose the latest developments of her tsunami generator, a unique facility built in the UK;

Ulf Leonhardt(opens in new window), Expert in ‘Invisibility Science’ will draw on cutting-edge optical sciences to show how balls can disappear in a simple aquarium;

Laura Robinson(opens in new window), Ocean Scientist will present the research results of her marine expedition across the Atlantic and about climate change.
