Establishing a virtual terminology library in Europe

A conference aimed at discussing the establishment of a terminology infrastructure in Europe will take place in Paris, from 13 to 15 March 2000. The event is organised by the TDCNet project, which brings together European documentation and terminology centres, and is funded by the EU's Multilingual Information Society (MLIS) programme.
The conference will look at developing cooperation between organisations working on both the horizontal and vertical levels in the field of terminology. In particular, sectoral organisations (such as water, railways, building, or telecoms) are encouraged to participate. It is hoped that the conference will create a platform for development of a European infrastructure for terminology.
It will look at developing interaction between the different parties, such as documentation and terminology centres, associations and networks, national, regional and international associations concerned with terminology questions, and any other organisation concerned with terminology questions in Europe. It will also aim to create a permanent group of documentation and terminology centres around the prototype established by TDCNet. In addition, it will also prepare for a world terminology summit.
