The annual Product Data Technology (PDT) Europe conference will take place in Noordwijk, The Netherlands, from 2 to 5 May 2000. The event continues the work of the Product Data Technology Advisory Group, a project funded by the EU's Esprit programme, which looked at all aspects of defining and processing information concerning a product throughout its life.
PDT provides a unified perspective for all elements of information, from early conception to eventual disposal of the product, and offers a strategy for integrating and re-engineering the business processes relating to the product, therefore leading to reduced costs and shorter times to market. Developing PDT requires concerted use of existing standards as well as the incorporation of new standards.
The PDT Advisory Group, funded by Esprit, aimed to promote European cooperation on PDT, especially in standardisation, improve the European PDT infrastructure, and disseminate information on PDT. A major part of its activity was the annual PDT Days, which are now being continued with the PDT Europe conference.
The overall focus of PDT Europe is to raise awareness within industrial and commercial enterprises of the business advantages which can be achieved by adopting and using modern PDT methods, and to share experience on how measurable benefits can be realised.
