Public hearing on the communication review

A two-day public hearing on the European Commission's Communication Review will take place on 25 and 26 January 2000.

The Communication Review sets out the proposals that are considered necessary to adapt the current EU legislation to future market and technological developments in a converged communications environment.

In November 1999, the Commission launched a public consultation on existing EU legislation for telecommunications legislation, with a view to adapting it to meet the challenges of rapid changes in electronic communications technology. Comments are invited until 15 February 2000 when the public consultation closes.

Anyone wishing to participate in the event is invited to pre-register no later than 14 January.
