A workshop to encourage the European construction industry to submit proposals for funding under the EU's Fifth Framework Programme will be held in Brussels on 31 January and 1 February 2000. The event is organised by ECCREDI, the European Council for Construction Research, Development and Innovation, and its environmentally friendly construction research network.

The event will feature presentations from Commission officials who will discuss the results of the first calls for proposals and look at the next calls now underway. In particular the workshop will address the 'City of tomorrow and cultural heritage' Key Action and the Competitive and Sustainable Growth programme. In addition it will also examine the support measures put in place to assist SMEs in applying for FP5 funding, such as the Craft cooperative research scheme.

Following these presentations on the first morning, the remainder of the workshop will allow focused discussion in thematic groups, as well as the opportunity for individual meetings with Commission project officers.
