Biofilm-Related Infections in Orthopedic and Trauma Surgery. International Collaborative Projects Ahead
The Congress represents the occasion to debate on the important theme of the novel Approach to Implant-Related Infections in Orthopaedics and Trauma Surgery both to disseminate results of the project and to spread knowledge toward the industrial community (with a particular focus to SMEs) the research and medical community, the Health Authorities, the patients and general public, media and press. It’s to highlight that the aim of the present research is to develop, validate and bring to the market a disposable coating of implanted biomaterial.
The program includes 6 sessions, 3 in the first day and other 3 in the second.
In the first day the sessions will be focused on the following topics:
• Impact of implant –related (Speakers: P. Cabitza, V. Heppert);
• Infections understanding biofilm-related infections in orthoapedics (Speakers: L. Drago, A. Soriano);
• Biofilm as a problem-biofilm as a target (Speakers: A. Corradi, K. Kirkterp-Moeller).
In the second day the sessions will be focused on the following topics:
• Current treatment of implant-related infections: an overview- (Speakers: H. Winkler, D. Jahoda);
• From passive to active biomaterials. IDAC and anti-bacterial coatings (Speakers: C.L. Romanò, K. Malizos).
At the end of the second day, with the presence of leading speakers (L. Drago, E. Meani), an international network for biofilm-related infection Round Table will be held, in order to discuss:
• How to establish a successful international network to fight bone and joint infections (Speaker: G. Lob)
• Looking inside PJls: the ISOC vision (Speakers: G. Banfi, G.H. Westrich, T. Sculco)
• Horizon 2020 and future research prospective (Speaker: C. Finocchiaro)
