SEAFARE is an Atlantic Area Transnational Programme project which aims to promote the diversification of the aquaculture industry by providing a greater range of species and alternative environmentally-friendly production systems. All the initiatives developed by the project are assessed for their commercial applicability through close collaboration with stakeholders and SMEs.

This issue of SEAFARE Project News focuses on aquaculture and wetlands restoration for sustainable exploitation and features interviews with Pedro Cañavate, a scientist working at the Instituto de Investigación y Formación Agraria y Pesquera (IFAPA) El Toruño; Mark Walton, a research officer from Bangor University, who has been studying the food webs structure and the ecosystem services related to Veta la Palma, a private farm owned by Pesquerías Isla Mayor, S.A (PIMSA), one of the associated partners of the SEAFARE project; and Miguel Medialdea, the manager of the Quality and Environmental Department at Veta la Palma. This issue also features a report from the SEAFARE stakeholder seminar held in Seville (Spain) in October and information about the upcoming seminar on sustainable oyster aquaculture to be held in London (UK) in December 2013.
