14 January 2015 - 15 January 2015
Belgium
S&T Agreements provide the formal inter-governmental framework with the aim to facilitate and enhance research and technology cooperation. The EU-U.S. S&T Agreement will be renewed in June 2015 and hence U.S. and EU policy-makers shall come together on 14 and 15 January in Brussels, with the aim to discuss the extent of concreteness, clearness and direction the EU-U.S. S&T Agreement needs to reflect in the future.

A particular focus will also be given to the Member States (MS) / Associated Countries (AC) activities. MS / AC representatives are invited to contribute with their national best practice examples on bilateral innovation cooperation and enhancing policies. Further international SMEs as important sources for new employment, shall provide insights into their internationalization strategies.

The overall goal of the planned BILAT USA 2.0 EU-U.S. Innovation Conference is to highlight existing best practices and to promote the integration of the innovation aspect in the EU-U.S. S&T Agreement to be renewed through more innovative and entrepreneurial principles.
Prominent U.S. experts from the U.S. State Department and the National Science Foundation (NSF) will discuss with DG Research and Innovation as well as U.S. and European representatives from universities, among others, the importance of promoting entrepreneurship and framework conditions for successful transatlantic innovation cooperation!
