The third edition of 'CAPITAL-IT', a showcase for 40 of the best French and European start-ups from the communication and information technologies industry, will take place in Paris, on 14 and 15 March 2000.

The event will bring together European investors (venture capitalists, business angels, financial institutions) looking for opportunities, and 40 managers from start-ups with high international growth potential who are actively seeking investment.

The aim is to discover new talents in the communication and information technologies sector. At least 25 per cent of the start-ups will come from outside France, and 75 per cent will be presented at an early stage. A 'best 40' award will be presented at the end of the conference to the 120 start-ups selected since the launch of CAPITAL-IT in March 1999.

Each company is allotted 20 minutes for a presentation, followed by a 20 minute question and answer session.

Following the first two editions, over 1,000 million French francs was secured by start-up businesses.

'The CAPITAL-IT meetings enable the financial community to obtain a global overview of the European communication and information technologies sector on a regular basis,' said Bertrand Valet, group technologies partner at Morgan Stanley Dean Witter. 'They also represent the perfect opportunity to identify the most innovative players, and particularly those using the Internet as a vehicle for new sales techniques.'
