Training Course 'Horizon 2020: SME Instrument'

The course aims to enhance SMEs' skills in preparing effective proposals for the new SME Instrument of Horizon 2020, and in better managing the grants. Particular attention will be given to the proposal templates, in order to provide the participants with the necessary skills to draft the technical and financial sections of the proposals. Practical examples and exercises are foreseen with a special focus on: objectives and impacts, budget planning, and Work-packages set up.

This training course will cover the following topics:

• Preliminary notions on the SME Instrument and main features of its Phases
• Eligibility criteria and definition of SME
• Functioning of the Participant Portal and the different themes covered by the SME Instrument
• How to submit a proposal for Phase 1 and Phase 2 and SME status validation
• How to prepare the administrative and financial sections of the proposals, with a focus on budget planning (for Phase 2 proposals)
• How to prepare the technical sections: deep analysis of the proposal templates, with a special focus on:
o Planning of project design activities;
o Identification of objectives, approach, and expected results;
o Identification of impacts, methodologies of dissemination and use of project results, with a special attention to IPRs, confidentiality, protection and use of results, and dissemination;
o Work-Packages assembling: tasks and schedule; management structures for consortium actions;
o Ethics issues management
• Evaluation criteria

The course specifically addresses the needs of professionals and project managers who are involved in the design of SME Instrument projects. The course will help participants to successfully prepare their projects, and will also provide a good opportunity to network and to share good practices.

THE COURSE WILL BE HELD IN ITALIAN. Courses can also be offered in English on demand.

Dates: Tuesday 17 March (from 09:00 to 17:00) Wednesday 18 March (from 09:00 to 17:15).

ATTENDANCE FEE: EUR 1000 +VAT. The fee includes tuition, documentation (both in printed and electronic format), certificate, morning coffees and lunches.

Course venue: Regus Carrobbio (Via Santa Maria Valle 3 – 20123 Milan - Italy).
