'New extensions of existing technologies' is the themes of the NEXT 1.0 conference organised by the media and communications department of Karlstad University, Sweden. The international event will take place from 5 to 7 April 2000 in Karlstad.
Participants will be invited to discuss the possibilities arising from digital technologies. Conference themes include 'creating content for interactive new media', 'virtual connected communities' and 'storytelling'.
Presentations will take the form of scholarly papers, presentations, installations and sculptures incorporating digital technologies, interactive and virtual video, virtual environments, and network-based elements.
