UK Energy Seminars

The Institute of European Trade and Technology (IETT) is organising a series of regional events in March 2000 in the UK on behalf of the UK Energie Helpline. These are aimed at providing information on the calls for proposals due to be published during the year 2000 under the ENERGIE programme. ENERGIE is part of the Energy, Environment and Sustainable Development programme, within the EU's Fifth Framework Programme.

The next call is due to be published on 1 February 2000 with a budget of around 100 million euros. It will be followed by a further call in autumn 2000 with a budget of around 250 million euros.

The seminars are aimed at R&D organisations, energy suppliers and utilities, energy technology and equipment suppliers, energy users, and various intermediary organisations with interest in the programme.

The information days are organised with the support of the UK Department of Trade and Industry (DTI), and will include speakers from the European Commission and the DTI, representatives of the Energie Helpline, programme experts and successful proposers.

The topics to be covered will include:

- Content and priorities of the call;
- Feedback on the results of the last call - lessons learnt
- Types of actions open for submission;
- Application procedure and electronic submission of proposals;
- Best practice experience and advice from successful proposers;
- Assistance available from the Energie Contact Point and other support agencies.

In addition, thematic workshops will be held in the afternoon on key areas of the programme, giving the potential proposers an opportunity to concentrate on specific areas of interest and meet potential partners. A number of special advice points will be available throughout the day, and representatives of the support organisations will be on hand to talk to the participants.

The Roadshow dates and locations are as follows:

- 3 March 2000, London;
- 7 March 2000, Edinburgh;
- 10 March 2000, Manchester;
- 13 March 2000, Bristol;
- 14 March 2000, Birmingham;
- 17 March 2000, London.
