The next meeting of the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) will take place in Cairo, Egypt, from 7 to 10 March 2000.

In preparation for the event, the panel of participants from the European Union will hold a consultative meeting in Brussels on 17 February 2000. Commissioner for Enterprise and the Information Society Erkki Liikanen will attend the session, presenting European policy on the Internet and electronic commerce.

The preliminary agenda for the ICANN Public Forum on 9 March includes considerations and policies relating to the creation of new top-level domain name registries, country code TLD registry declaration and administration policies, and ICANN operational matters. In addition, a meeting of the ICANN governmental advisory committee will take place.
