CHARISMA Final event Experience, Research and Innovation the integrated Research Infrastructures for Cultural Heritage Conservation and Restoration celebrates its results
The task of preserving the heritage of ancient and historical works and artefacts needs the most advanced scientific methods and knowledge, to understand the effects of time and a changing environment, and to ensure that restoration interventions are informed by the latest research. CHARISMA Project has addressed this need providing access to the widest number of scientific techniques combined with the highest level of expertise: eleven EU facilities have been opened to European Researchers including the most prestigious European museums and institutions (The National Gallery London, The British Museum, the Centre de Recherche et de Restauration des Musées de France (Palais du Louvre), the Museo Nacional del Prado, the Opificio delle Pietre Dure and the Rijksdienst voor het Cultureel Erfgoed)
The event will provide you with an in-depth analysis of progress towards this goal, and towards identifying and disseminating best practices and the latest advances in technology and research.
The programme includes a Laboratory visit to allow invited participants to see how the CHARISMA “conservation and restoration” technologies and instruments are applied to works of art and artefacts by Leonardo, Raffaello, Beato Angelico and Jackson Pollock currently in restoration
The CHARISMA Final event is hosted by Opificio delle Pietre Dure and organised by the University of Perugia, the National Research Council of Italy, the Agency for the Promotion of European Research and the Opificio delle Pietre Dure.
