Workshop on the MERLIN-Expo tool for higher-tier exposure assessment of chemicals

The 4FUN project has organised the final free workshop on the MERLIN-Expo tool. The workshop will be held in Barcelona on 22 September 2015, the day before the Informa CIR conference. This workshop will focus on the MERLIN-Expo tool as a tool for higher-tier chemical exposure assessment. It will be of interest to regulatory professionals involved in generating exposure assessments for product registrations and evaluations of new and legacy contaminants.

MERLIN-Expo is a new tool, developed as part of the 4FUN project funded by the EU FP7 research programme. MERLIN-Expo is a tool capable of integrating environmental exposure with human exposure, including exposure to individual internal organs. The tool can also integrate food chain effects, multiple chemicals and multiple routes of exposure. It is backed up by a comprehensive evaluation of uncertainty and sensitivity. The MERLIN-Expo tool is a framework in which to build and analyse a model of chemical fate that matches your chemical exposure problem.

The workshop will be hosted by highly regarded experts from the 4FUN project team who specialise in the areas of modelling environmental fate, human exposure, pharmacokinetics and environmental risk assessment of chemicals.

This workshop will include presentations on the theory behind the model and practical sessions on the use of the model. The agenda will cover benchmarking of MERLIN-Expo against current approaches; regulatory applicability; environmental models; human models; and sensitivity analysis. This workshop will be of interest to regulatory professionals involved in generating exposure assessments for product registrations and evaluations of new and legacy contaminants.
