EARMA, the European Association of Research Managers and Administrators is organising its third Winter School for 'Effective Negotiations' in Karlsruhe, Germany, on 30 and 31 March 2000.

'As negotiations are essential parts of Research Managers' and Administrators' day to day business in terms of getting funding, this is an important area to acquire or improve skills,' says an EARMA spokesperson.

The workshop will be held at the Forschungszentrum Karlsruhe, one of the largest non-commercial science and engineering research centres in Germany.

The 'Effective negotiation skills' course delivers the theoretical background for successful negotiations with partners. The course is aimed to promote confidence when negotiating in English; to widen participants' range of negotiation techniques; to provide practise for principled negotiations; and help learn how to handle difficult situations more effectively.
