TeleCities seminar

The first TeleCities seminar of the year will take place in Hradec Kralove (near Prague), in the Czech Republic, on 27 and 28 March 2000. TeleCities is an open network for concerted urban development through Telematics.
This pan European conference is organised in connection with the ISSS2000 Conference and Exhibition on Internet in Public Administration, and will focus on the use of information technologies in public life in European countries particularly those wishing to join the EU.
The event provides an opportunity for TeleCities members to meet their colleagues and counterparts from Central and Eastern Europe.
During the opening session of the Telecities Seminar, the signatory ceremony of the declaration 'Mayors for the Global Cities Dialogue on the Information Society' will take place in the presence of mayors from main Central and Eastern European cities. The declaration was launched in Helsinki at the IST99 Conference, and over 20 cities have subscribed to the system which aims to promote the Information Society in town halls worldwide.
There will also be also be several plenary sessions devoted to topics such as e-commerce in public administrations and e-government.
During ISSS2000, the new 'EuroCrest' award will be launched. This award recognises the best public World Wide Web homepage. TeleCities will use this occasion to present both the Stockholm Challenge Award and Global Junior Challenge.
