This talk will explore global sources of liquid transport fuels in the context of the long term prospects for fossil and renewable resources, including the future implications for greenhouse gas emissions. Underlying price drivers will be discussed, and the implications of recent trends in the resource bases considered. The nature and economics of selected options for converting alternative resources such as gas, coal and biomass into liquid fuels normally derived from crude oil will be described.
