Call for papers: International ACM Workshop on “The role of Humanities in the promotion of social rights”

This research meeting will study the relevance of the Humanities in a time in which the financial crisis is promoting a lifestyle in which social rights and gender equality are being constantly undermined.

INTRODUCTION

The role of the Humanities in the promotion of social rights and gender equality: artists, intellectuals, educators.

The sessions will explore the ways in which the Humanities, by emphasizing critical thinking and opening new ways of seeing what institutional discourses and the media fail to address, fulfills an essential role in our societies. It will explore the role of intellectuals, artists, filmmakers and educators and their significant influence to contribute to a more ethical and dignified social representation of the world. The nature of the presentations should encourage discussion
and open possibilities for engaging other participants.
