An international symposium entitled 'Higher education for sustainable regional development' being held in Austria from May 17 to 19 will provide a forum for the exchange of sustainable regional development ideas, suggest innovative ways to improve education in this field and initiate international cooperation between regional development students.

The Symposium, in the Schloß Seggau (Seggau Castle), will focus on higher education approaches as well as provoking discussion relevant for other levels of training. It will feature both oral presentation as well as workshops, which will evaluate new approaches and how well they prepare students for complex tasks in implementing sustainable regional development.

The discussions at the symposium will be evaluated and summarised after the meeting and will form the core of an Internet discussion panel on this topic.
