The sixth European conference on 'Solar Energy in Architecture and urban planning', subtitled 'Building in solar urbanity', will be held in Bonn, Germany, from 12 to 15 September 2000.

The event will focus on approaches and ideas for 'zero-emissions-buildings' and concepts in ecological urban planning.

Conference discussions will focus on:

- The responsibility of architects, civil engineers, owners and urban planners for future ecological concepts;
- Approaches to designing a new economy of constructions;
- The exchange of opinions as to practical implementations, concepts and visions of people living in an integrated natural and urban environment.

This series of conferences was launched by the European Commission. It has a track record for attracting high-level speakers and more than 800 people from 40 countries participated in the 1998 conference, which focused on the theme 'Building a new century'.

The conference organisers are now calling for contributions for presentations on realised buildings or urban planning, blueprints and concepts for technical systems and applications - from solar technology for buildings to natural or recyclable building materials.

The conference is organised by the European Association for Renewable Energies, EUROSOLAR, together with the KunstMuseum Bonn, Kunst-und Ausstellungshalle der Bundesrepublik Deutschland, with support from the Ministry of Science and Research of the Federal State North Rhine-Westphalia, the Congress of Municipalities and Regions of the Council of Europe, Deutsche Bundesarchitektenkammer and the magazine 'Deutsches Architektenblatt.
