Throughout the week, new forms of working practices brought about by the Information Society will be discussed throughout Europe in a series of conferences, seminars and working groups organised by the European Social Fund Community Initiative ADAPT.

On 10 March, a transnational videoconference will bring together the results and conclusions of the various events. Event organisers claim this is the first ever transnational week organised around a single key theme, 'The future of work, the work of the future'.

Belgium, Denmark, Germany, Greece, Spain, France, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Portugal, Austria, Finland, Sweden and the United Kingdom will all be taking part.

The event centres around three aspects of companies practices: flexibility in work organisation, production and working time; cooperation and networking between small and medium sized enterprises; and new forms of training and learning content.

Modernised work organisation is a key issue for ADAPT, a European initiative designed to help companies and workers adapt to industrial change. Since it began in 1995, it has co-financed 4,000 projects to transfer and disseminate designs, solutions to problems, materials and products. There are no further calls for ADAPT projects.
