Data Analysis Tools: Sampling Methods, Use of CAAT, IT Systems for Risk Based Audit

Sound financial management of European ESI Funds 2014-2020 and reliable audit trail continue to be essential for securing that all European funding resources are spent properly and efficiently. Member States are obliged to prevent, detect and correct irregularities and to recover amounts unduly paid, together with any interest on late payments. Therefore, national authorities have to meet the challenges of stronger financial controls and carry out the respective audits.

This Master Class is tailored especially to the needs of staff working in Managing Authorities, Intermediate Bodies, Certifying Authorities, Audit Authorities, Supreme Audit Institutions and Regional Audit Institutions, Beneficiaries (e.g. national, regional, local government administrations, agencies, universities, associations and organisations as well as private beneficiaries), Consulting Companies, Advisory and Audit Services and other institutions and stakeholders dealing with management and control of EU Funds. They will be able to upgrade their knowledge on Improving Financial Management, Control and Audit of EU Funds in the Programming Period 2014-2020. They will:

• become acquainted with the changes in control and audit of ESI Funds 2014-2020
• learn how to cope with the new Delegated and Implementing Acts for the ESI Funds 2014-2020
• learn about practical obstacles which may arise and how to tackle them
• increase the efficiency of their work by implementing the newest methods and tools in financial control and audit of ESI Funds
• improve their know-how and thus strengthen your expertise in this field
• measure their knowledge in a special knowledge check and receive the prestigious Diploma of the European Academy for Taxes, Economics & Law

The programme of this Master Clas is designed in a very interactive manner. In addition to team exercises and discussions on each module, the students are invited to test their fresh-acquired know-how by participating in the daily knowledge checks that will take place at the end of every training day. These consist of multiple choice questions based on the main issues discussed previously in the morning and afternoon sessions.
