The forthcoming seminar 'Towards a learning society' in Lisbon from 28 to 30 May aims to give a platform of debate to issues tied up with the results from the former TSER (Targeted Socio-economic Research) Programme. Social cohesion and socio-economic factors figure high on the inter-disciplinary debate.

The three main thematic sessions are the following:

- Institutional and organisational innovation;
- New skills and competence building;
- Social structures and changing work patterns

The seminar hopes to identify emerging socio-economic trends and, from there, look at strategies for the learning society. Both policy makers and researchers will be invited to speak on the issues raised.
