The business of knowledge transfer will be the centre of attention at the forthcoming Technology, Innovation, Information (TII) conference in Funchal, Madeira on 18 and 19 May 2000.

The first day of the conference, entitled 'Knowledge transfer: the key to economic development in the new millennium' will be dedicated to speeches on the issues facing those in innovation. These will touch on issues such as business creation through knowledge transfer, the knowledge economy's role in regional development and systems for maximising knowledge transfer.

The European Commissioner for Research, Philippe Busquin, has also been invited to deliver a keynote speech on the first day of the conference, elaborating on his proposal to create a European research area.

The second day of the conference will be given over to workshops covering creativity at work, technology transfer brokerage and the productivity benefits of problem solving through the web.
