It is our pleasure to invite you to attend the 2019 Asia-Pacific-Euro Summer School on Smart Structures Technology (APESS 2019) that will be held from July 15th to August 3rd at the historical Faculty of Civil and Industrial Engineering, Sapienza University of Rome, Italy.
APESS 2019 is organised in conjunction with the 8th International Summer School on Smart Materials and Structures, held each year by the Department of Civil, Environmental and Mechanical Engineering of the University of Trento.
APESS 2019 is organised under the auspices of the Asian-Pacific Network of Centers for Research in Smart Structures Technology (ANCRiSST) and IASCM – International Association on Structural Control and Monitoring.
Participants of APESS will attend three weeks of lectures given by world-leading experts in Civil Engineering, Structural Dynamics and Control, Smart Structures Technology and Structural Health Monitoring. They will participate in a technical visit to L’Aquila and laboratory projects where they will learn about fundamental and practical uses of sensing principles and technologies for infrastructure monitoring. To reinforce knowledge gained during the sessions, they will also be challenged in a capstone competition.
APESS 2019 is open to graduate students, PhD students and postdoctoral researchers doing research in the field of new technology and data analysis applied to structural health monitoring and structural control.
The APESS programme will provide participants with an international programme that recognises both achievements in smart structures technology of participating nations as well as a common desire to pioneer a structured educational framework. Throughout this programme, participants will be exposed to leaders in the field, both Italian and international.
