Building for the future call for papers

The 'Technological innovation in design and construction' conference to be held in Dublin Castle, on 23 and 24 November 2000 has made its first call for papers.
Particular emphasis will be placed on the following topical areas: environmentally friendly design, reducing emissions, alternative energy sources, sustainability, conservation of existing architectural heritage.
Abstracts of 200 words should be returned by 16 May 2000 which will be followed by the publication of a provisional programme on 30 June 2000
The discussions at the conference will encompass new acts and regulations affecting construction and conservation, such as planning and building regulations and a look at new legislation on conservation.
The official opening will be performed by Noel Dempsey, TD, Minister for the Environment. There will also be a reception in the State Rooms after close of business on Thursday followed by a social tour of Dublin.
