The seventh European assembly on telework and new ways of working will be held in London, UK, on 13 to 15 September 2000.

Sponsored by the European Commission and the UK Department of Trade and Industry, Telework 2000 will examine one of the most significant areas of expected change in the new millennium - the way we work.

Information and communication technologies are changing the geography of the workplace, enabling people who might not otherwise have found employment to work, such as the disabled or geographically remote.

Reflecting the devolution process underway in the UK, there will be presentations on electronic government. Business and technology elements will also feature strongly.

'I should like to take this opportunity to invite you to Telework 2000 where, I hope, we will be able to consolidate further our experiences and consider collectively how we move forward in the 'wired' world,' said Mr Tony Blair, the British Prime Minister.
