For the first time ever, the public will have unlimited access to the Joint Research Centre's Ispra site when it opens its doors on 13 May 2000 in celebration of Schuman day.

'There is quite a comprehensive programme planned for this year's celebrations,' the Joint Research Centre (JRC) has announced.

The day will begin with presentations from distinguished speakers and the open day itself will be from 1400 to 1730.

The four JRC institutes housed at the Ispra site will open various laboratories to the public, provide information on their activities, and answer questions from visitors. The technical services will also show some of the procedures essential for the everyday functioning of the site. The ESSOR reactor will also be open to the public.
