Transforming Europe through Citizen Innovation & Sustainable Entrepreneurship: The EU-InnovatE Project Final Conference

In the past three years, EU-InnovatE has explored the emerging phenomenon of how user innovators, citizens and entrepreneurs can accelerate the transition towards more sustainable lifestyles and green economy in Europe. This fast-paced, immersive event will launch our findings and engage 100+ businesses, sustainable entrepreneurs, policy-makers, citizen pioneers, and educators to rethink ways to nurture innovation and entrepreneurship for sustainability in line with wider EU policy ambitions.

22 November 2016 - 22 November 2016

We are pleased to invite you to join us in Brussels on 22 November for the Final Conference of this groundbreaking initiative, with three objectives in mind:

1/ To invite dynamic and critical comment and feedback on the headline insights, recommendations and implications emerging from our work;

2/ To showcase the inspirational stories and cases of citizen innovators and sustainable entrepreneurs from across Europe who are pioneering new solutions in the domains of food, energy, mobility and living; and

3/ To debate the potential implications of this emerging phenomenon for Europe's wider ambitions for smart, sustainable and inclusive growth.

Visionary entrepreneurs and speakers will feature throughout the programme, including Madi Sharma (EESC Member and Founder of the Madi Group), Marcello Palazzi (Co-Founder of B Corps Europe), Jakob Assmann (Co-Founder of Polarstern), and Tobias Lau (Head of Social Action, Copenhagen Institute of Interaction Design).

Our Final Conference will also convene public policy representatives, with the promise of a deeper understanding and discussion of the new sustainable entrepreneurship paradigm in Europe and its future influence in more innovative, effective policy-making.

We will engage senior voices from industry, for whom open innovation for sustainability is a critical key to unlocking future growth and turbocharging current strategies, and from the investment world, for whom competitive financial returns allied with positive environmental and social impact are seen as increasingly valuable opportunities to explore.

Last but by no means least, we will welcome colleagues from the worlds of education and research – both as the teachers of the next generation of sustainable entrepreneurs, and as the scientists who will carry the intellectual torches forward in this domain in the years to come.

The event will be held at the Ateliers des Tanneurs, the former Brussels “wine palace” which now serves as a social enterprise hub and biomarket for local organic food producers.
