Networking in an IT environment

The TERENA (Trans European Research and Education Networking Association) networking conference 2000 in Lisbon on 22-25 May promises to take a comprehensive overview of the opportunities and challenges of the information society.
Designed as a networking forum for researchers, IT professionals and those in the academic area, the event will take on a number of challenging issues. The role of the Internet in education, security of internet applications, the effect of networking and how key projects such as the decoding of the genome will be influenced by use of the Internet will all be analysed. Developments in Internet Protocol, how advanced uses of the Internet can assist in medicine, publishing and even entertainment, all figure on the event's programme.
A simultaneous event, the fifth international web caching and content delivery workshop will be taking place in Lisbon and delegates will be able to pass between the two freely.
