Energy and environment in the Czech Republic

A workshop on 30 May 2000 in Liberec, Czech Republic, will focus on modernisation in the energy and environment sector and the necessary adaptation processes of the Czech energy infrastructure during the process of its accession to the European Union.

The workshop will kick off with a plenary session when the past ten years of change in the euro-regions Erzgebirge and Neisse will be discussed. Participants will describe their experiences in the energy and environment sectors in the Czech Republic and in Germany.

Presentations in working groups and further plenary sessions will follow, and will consider:

- experiences with the modernisation and efficiency of improvements in buildings in the Czech Republic and in Germany;

- approaches to modernisation and efficiency improvement in local and regional energy supply;

- qualification measures for energy efficiency improvements in the private, commercial and public sectors.
