Eureka to discuss its potential role in the ERA
Eureka is an international organisation which aims to promote collaborations between industries across Europe and plays a significant role in promoting research and development.
The Berlin event - the organisation's eleventh inter-parliamentary conference is titled 'Eureka - gateway to the European Research Area' (ERA), in reference to the plans of the European Research Commissioner, Mr Philippe Busquin, to develop cooperation between the EU Member States' national research programmes.
A number of high profile research and development figures will participate in the discussions, including the French, Portuguese and German Ministers for research, parliamentarians from all Eureka member countries, some members of the European Parliament and government representatives.
The meeting will discuss Eureka's role in the ERA and its ability to act as a major force in bringing together researchers in many fields from across Europe to facilitate cooperation.
An exhibition entitled 'Eureka treasures', which presents technological advances assisted by Eureka projects, is also being organised alongside the conference. The exhibits will cover a wide range of technology sectors and will show their applications for everyday life.
