A conference on 'Working without limits?, is being organised by the European Trade Union Federation (ETUC) together with the Trade Union Technical Bureau for Health and Safety (TUTB) and the joint programme for working life research in a European perspective (SALTSA). The event will be held in Brussels from 25 to 27 September 2000.

'Too little is known about the health effects of organisational changes, but their impacts on the mental and physical well-being of workers can readily be imagined. The conference will focus on a selection of branches and sectors, on which parallel workshops will be held,' says the ETUC.

The conference aims:

- to bridge academic, professional and cultural gaps in a common quest for applicable knowledge;
- to identify workers' needs in order to counter negative effects and properly negotiate the new trends;
- to establish contacts and networks for fruitful future cooperation across national, academic and organisational boundaries;
- to identify vital research needs for the years to come.

The conference is open to researchers and experts specialising in health issues related to working life, union officials and other interested persons.
