Innovation is measuring up

An improved measurement of innovation is the objective of the forthcoming conference in Sophia Antipolis, France on 23 and 24 November.

Following upon the success of a similar conference in 1996 which led to improved methodology of surveys measuring innovation, the conference which has been jointly organised by the European Commission's Innovation Directorate and Eurostat will look at the following measures:


advances in innovation

results of studies exploiting recent Community and national surveys

news indicators needed to benchmark innovation and company creation policies

the acquisition and protection of competencies by enterprises
