France gives Europe's younger generation a voice
Organised by Prometheus-Europe, the conference will 'shape the Europe of tomorrow' and look at the new challenges facing the new Europe. The first two days will address a number of these through 20 thematic seminars, which will focus on topics such as the impact of new technologies on Europe and its workplace, organising a common 'European knowledge area', the role of the 'Eurocitizen' and training in Europe in 2010.
The conference will have a distinctly young flavour as, of its 2,500 participants, it is anticipated that 1,000 will be students and 1,000 young professionals. The idea will be that this will be an opportunity for Europe's decision makers to listen to the generation that will form tomorrow's Europe. On the final day, following a closing speech by Mr Jospin, a televised conference debate on the future of Europe will be held between six European figures and around 60 European students
