The fifth Eurowood symposium 'Information technology: future and modernity for wood in construction' will take place on 1 to 2 March 2001, in Bordeaux, France.

The event has been organised by the EUROWOOD network, an association of European institutes and research centers in the field of wood, created ten years ago with the support of the European Commission.

The symposium will be organised around the following workshops:
- innovative products, processes and constructive systems ,
- multi-technological design (acoustics, fire, thermal),
- hygiene, health, comfort, environment,
- standardization, legislation,
- economics in the building industry.

This symposium will be a platform of exchanges and communication. Internet, multimedia applications and electronic data will be used for the presentations. A plenary session at the opening of this conference will call on a well-known IT expert who will put into perspective the future of these technologies, and the boost these can give to industry.
