16 October 2000 - 16 October 2000
France
The annual French science fair taking place during the week of 16 to 22 October will have a European dimension this year to coincide with the French presidency of the EU.

Over 700 towns and villages in France will take part in the event which aims to inform the public on current scientific and technological debates and activities as well as giving value to scientific collaboration at the heart of the European Community.

Around the world, 2000 is being celebrated as the year of mathematics, reflecting its importance in all scientific disciplines. The accent of this event will therefore be placed on mathematical achievements.

Emphasis will also be placed on attracting young people to science, developing exchanges among researchers and informing young people of the diversity of professions available in this field.
