Informatics for Environmental Protection
The event will focus on environmental information for planning, politics and the public and take as its main themes:
- environmental informatics and citizen participation, mediation, Agenda 21;
- spatial planning and environmental Information systems for sustainable regional and city development;
- regional and urban planning;
- geo-information systems for supporting decision-making in environmental and regional planning;
- environmental informatics from an International Perspective
The Symposium aims to document the state of development and applications of environmental informatics in German-speaking countries and promote the exchange of experiences among research, industry and user communities. 'One of the strengths of the symposium, which has taken place yearly since 1986, is its application orientation,' say the event organisers. 'The conference has become one of the important platforms for interdisciplinary dialogue among informatics experts and experts in the preparation, analysis and interpretation of environmental information from the fields of environmental planning and engineering disciplines as well as practitioners of environmental protection in public administration, industry and politics.'
Besides two German-language tracks there will also be one completely in English.
