Bright role for innovation in the Black Sea

The role of research and development and innovation in the reconstruction and development of the Black Sea Economic Community (BSEC) countries will be discussed at forthcoming conference in Kharkov, the Ukraine, on 5 to 7 June, 2001.

Representatives from business, SMEs, technology parks, research institutions and innovation centres will all be involved in the organisation and attendance of the conference.

The conference aims to provide:

- analysis of the problems and opportunities of regional cooperation in R&D and innovation areas, choice of priority directions of development;
- discussions on prospects of innovation activity regional infrastructure development;
- ways to increase innovation activity effectiveness.

The event will provide four parallel sessions on the following themes:

- challenges and prospects of the BSEC countries R&D and innovation potential integration; the regional innovation infrastructure: the state of art and prospects of development;
- legal aspects of R&D and innovation cooperation development in the region;
- provision and promotion of innovation activity;
- participation of SMEs in R&D and innovation activity: the state of art and prospects;
- prospects of cooperation in environment safety technology development and transfer.

The working languages of the Conference will be English and Russian.
