A conference on 'taxonomies for business' will be held at the confederation of British industry in London on October 23 2000.

The conference will address the role of taxonomies in achieving value from the increasingly complex and disparate information and knowledge resources held within and available to corporations.

Mike Crandall, a knowledge architect manager from Microsoft, will open the event and set the scene with an analysis of the need for taxonomies to prevent information overload in networked environments. Adrian Dale, head of knowledge at Unilever will address the value of mind mapping techniques in creating corporate views of the knowledge environment.

The event will provide an opportunity for discussion and debate among knowledge and information mangers, senior mangers responsible for content strategies for intranets and websites, and others working with content and managing knowledge structures.
