The adoption of the eEurope initiative earlier this year has given added impetus to the European Commissions plans for bringing the Community forward into the information society.

An area where these changes will have their greatest impact is in the field of regional development. An EC-supported conference in Venice on October 12 and 13 gives regional and urban planners an opportunity to learn about of the likely effects on economic and social policy.

Delegates at the meeting will have the opportunity to monitor developments in telecommunications and information technology under the EC Fifth Framework programme and to debate the regulatory, technological and economic aspects of regional telecommunications networks in an increasingly liberalised society.

The TeleRegions Network meeting follows the highly successful conference in Tanum, Sweden last year which attracted 300 decision-makers from all over Europe. With support from the Commission's Information Society Technologies programme and several companies in the IT industry it has been possible to offer a registration fee of 295 euro.For further information, please contact;
